Cannon ball safe
I recently found a safe among my fathers old stuff. Friends refer to this safe as a cannon ball safe. Estimated at 100 years old. Made in hamilton, ohio. Not mint condition but good condition as to where a collector should be interested. My question to the professionals here is a fair market value to sell this safe by or a way to get an appraisal

Upload some photos less than 500 pixels x 500 and someone here will make some comments. If you search here you will find some info too.

Safes are a heavy item. This will make it costly to move if the collector isn't already able to move it. SO you will find that this gem might be a hard item to move in some cases. Your location would also help us to tell you (if we know) what your market might be like.
One thing, don't toss it to scrap even if you can't find a buyer, if nothing else the locks on the safe are worth something.Dean Nickel, CPL

This safe in that area might bring $100-500 depending on if it has the lock it was built with and also it might bring more if it had time movements (Time Locks) and they worked and are all there. If nothing else it is one heck of a safe just for your stuff. Nobody just picks a CB up and walks out! Outside of the safe might make a small-large difference on price if it had artwork on it. Look at some of the safes on this site and you will understand this last part.

I'M HEARING PRICE RANGES FROM 2500.00 , 5000.00, ONE GUY HAS SUGGESTED HIGHER PRICE RANGE. I HAVE A OFFER OF 2500.00. THE GUY IS WILLING TO TRAVEL APPROX 700 MILES TO BUY IT AND HASN'T SEEN A PIC. IT DOES FEATURE THE TIME MOVEMENTS
I DON'T KNOW IF THE TIME MOVEMENTS WORK BUT SEEM TO BE IN AMAZING CONDITION. ONE COLLECTOR ASK IF I HAD THE "BANKERS KEY". I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE IT INSIDE THE SAFE. ALL PARTS OF THE SAFE APPEAR TO BE IN WORKING ORDER. I HAVE NO REASON TO THINK OTHERWISE AT THE MOMENT.:confused:Last edited by gurleyman; 03-03-10 at 08:54 PM.

Wow. I am stunned. I am happy for you! The last time I talked to someone in that part of the US they couldn't get $400 for a canonball. Well times change and so do prices. Hope all goes well. Could you post a pic of it before it leaves? Inside if you can as well?
