Hello Biscuit, Congrats on the recent purchase. There was a very good article in the last WCLCA newsletter here in the states by Michelle Kaye (fellow collector) about the Sorel locks. Very detailed and full of information down to the smallest parts and operation. Let me know and I could scan and send you a copy if you'd like. Regards, Angusbuddy

Thanks, I have the WCLCA newsletter, which reminds me I need to renew my memberships to ALCA & WCLCA. Mr Kayes articles in the last two issues is what peaked my interest and got me looking for the lock. I've always thought of the Sorel as a unique lock. Mark

Sorel padlock
The Sorel arrived the other day and after playing with it for about 20 min using the techniques that Mr Kayes had so generously printed in the latest WCLCA newsletter, I was able to figure out the combination and get it to open. This Sorel is the patented model with 18 click stops on the dial on the bottom. While not the most sofisticated mechanism in a lock it is pretty unique. And I might add heavy too.
